Dntel - A New Album?

While perusing the Sub Pop (one of my favorite labels) website, I noticed this blurb on Dntel. If you know who Dntel is, then I'm sure that you remember the Life Is Full Of Possibilities album from 2001. If not, then maybe you know about The Postal Service, one of Jimmy Tamborello's projects. I love The Postal Service and enjoy everything that I have heard that Jimmy Tamborello was involved in. If you are like me and were wondering if Dntel would release another album..wonder no more. It looks like April 24th we will see the new album Dumb Luck hit the streets, but you can pre-order it now here.

Low

Ok so I admit it, I'm addicted. I have been a long time Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker or Low fan. So, when I get an email that says they are releasing a new album and I can pre-order it now, instinct just takes over and I click "here" without a second thought.

Take a listen, but be careful. This stuff is like heroine to me, seriously.

The Arcade Fire

According to Pitchfork Media:

The Arcade Fire's second album, Neon Bible, claimed the No. 2 spot on the U.S. Billboard 200 charts this week, stomping all over new LPs from Daughtry, Relient K and Robin Thicke.

According to Billboard, the album sold 92,000 copies this week; only Notorious B.I.G.'s Greatest Hits sold more. That album, which was released ten years after the rapper's death, sold 99,000 copies. This position is miles ahead of Funeral's chart ranking, which peaked at #131. The album also topped the Independent and Rock Album charts. Neon Bible also took #2 in the UK, coming in second to the Kaiser Chiefs' Yours Truly, Angry Mob.

F#&% the RIAA

Nice iPod hack.

Do Make Say Think & The Berg Sans Nipple

The Berg Sans Nipple opened for Do Make Say Think. They remind me somewhat of The Album Leaf. Berg Sans Nipple is just 2 guys with drum sets, several keyboards, several music making machines, a mini steel drum and other odd instruments. Very good stuff. I was very impressed. Great Show at The Casbah.

Son Volt

If you are an avid listener of the indie/alternative genre, I'm sure that you have already heard of these guys, but if not please take a listen. Son Volt is led by Jay Farrar formerly of Uncle Tupelo fame. I just discovered Son Volt the other day and I am very impressed. They actually reminds me a lot of Jason Molina from Songs: Ohia / Magnolia Electric Company. Great stuff! You can stream about 4 songs from their site here.
