Cat Power

If you have not heard Cat Power, please do so immediately.

Chan Marshall stops time. She sits at a piano or lays her guitar across her lap, and whether it’s a noisy club overflowing with drunks or a coffee house full of laptoppers, Chan Marshall draws all the attention in the room and makes the world stop spinning. As Cat Power, Marshall’s music seems to rise from nowhere, envelop the room, then vanish; listeners know they’ve been hit by something but they’re not sure what.

For 'The Greatest' (not a greatest hits, but the brand-new studio album), Marshall returned to Memphis, pursuing this time the
slinky Hi Records sound of the 70s, famed for its sensuous feel and beguiling rhythms.

The Land

If you like Yo La Tengo, Low or any other Lo-Fi soothing gloom rock then you are sure to enjoy The Land.

Judith Klassen and Simon Neufeld have played music together since 1997.
Their music combines guitar, viola, violin, banjo, mandolin, and vocal harmonies. The land does not have an official policy on synthesizer use. Check out the tracks they have posted on thier site. Album to come soon.

Band of Horses - Everything All The Time

Yet another diamond from the folks over at Sub Pop. I got an email from Sub Pop announcing the upcoming release of this album. I immediately went to their site and downloaded the song The Funeral. It was over at that point and I ordered it directly from the label. Very good clean sound. Check them out here.
